Insurance

Insurance is complicated. We believe that you deserve the highest quality of care and are disrupting the status quo to achieve that goal.

Did you know that anything related to your eyes that is not routine is covered by medical insurance and not vision discount plans. Examples: Dry eyes, stye, pink eye, corneal abrasions, glaucoma, diabetes, the list goes on and on. Vision plans only cover your routine refractive exam.

We are contracted with almost all medical insurance plans. The only common exceptions are Aetna and Medicaid/Tenncare (we ARE a Medicare provider). Some medical insurances include routine vision…great! and some use a third party. We can accept patients with all third party vision plans, although we are not contracted with them, we are an open access provider.

What is open access?

Finding the right eye doctor is important to your eye health and overall wellness. The great news is that most eye care plans such as VSP, EyeMed, Spectera, and others have an open access option which allows the patient to select any eye doctor they choose.  This is also commonly known as out of network benefits. And sometimes it will still just be a co-pay for the patient, with benefits to use toward glasses and contacts, and sometimes it means that we will submit a from on your behalf for you to receive a partial reimbursement from your vison plan in a few weeks.

Why open access?

After careful consideration, we decided to be open access providers for some vision discount plans. These plans, and the corporations that own them, dictate what doctors can prescribe, what frames and lenses we can sell and how much time we get to spend with out patients. We will not allow large corporations to compromise our patient care! We are committed to spending as much time with our patients as needed. And to providing the best possible treatment options, superior technology as well as the highest quality materials from trustworthy manufacturing facilities. We are also able to offer our serivices and goods at fair and tranparent costs because we don’t have to deal with the fee schedules dictated by vision plans.

What do your services cost?

Our comprehensive eye health and vision exam that also includes Optomap Retinal imaging starts at $110. But your cost might just be a copay through your medical plan or even some vision plans like VSP. Or we will submit all the paperwork for you to be reimbursed by your plan in a few weeks. In most cases we are still able to look up your out of network benefits and tell you exactly how much you should expect.
